My journey with meditation started when I was a teenager, and a book I read taught me to count backwards from 100 to 1! For the most part, this just put me to sleep!

This expanded and led to adding mindfulness as I later developed a prayer life. This taught me to increase the time I could sit quietly, from 10 minutes to over an hour. A few years later I learnt and added the discipline of breathwork. Having a strong foundation of mindfulness and meditation, served me well when combining these with conscious, controlled breathing.

I have also bolstered this by reading books on topics covering psychology, psychotherapy, the vagus nerve, neuroplasticity, CBT, (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Buddhism, childhood trauma, self-esteem, PTSD, (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and CPTSD, (C is for Complex), Reiki, EFT, (Emotional Freedom Technique), cellular level healing, sleep science and nutrition. Reading broadly around topics is something I find deeply satisfying but also essential to understanding not only the things you believe in but also things others believe that may be different from yourself. It also helps to have a deeper understanding of where others are coming from, who may have different life experiences to your own.

Altogether, it has helped me blend different techniques to achieve my goals. And it is these I am sharing here with you.
However, the foundation and cornerstone to successfully calm our mind is the simple key of breathing. Breathing consciously, correctly and in a controlled manner. (See the Blog Keys)

My life is one long journey of discovery, of the world and the self. And in the words of Oprah Winfrey, "One thing I know for sure", is I don't know very much! It is this little amount of knowledge, wisdom and experience I want to share with you here.
